ABOUT

Raised on a farm, Cindy was brought up with Midwestern values, common sense, and a respect for her country and the people who serve it. These values shape the way she represents her district in the State Senate — and as Governor, they will guide her efforts to deliver Real Solutions for Real Kansans.

Her parents taught her the meaning of serving her community and investing in the future of our children. Her father is a veteran, construction worker, proud union member, and a farmer. Her mom was a custodian at her elementary school. They worked hard to provide her with a better life, and supported her as she became the first college graduate in her family.

In 2016, she walked with a group of education advocates from Shawnee to Topeka twice to bring attention to the underfunding of public schools under the Brownback administration. Later that year, she was lected to the State House of Representatives in 2016, where she co-founded the Women’s Bipartisan Caucus and helped end the failed Brownback experiment, which drained billions from our schools.

In 2020, she ran for State Senate and won — defeating an extremist incumbent and becoming the only Democratic state senator to serve a Republican district.

Since then, Cindy has prioritized policies that solve problems for Kansas families. She has worked to fully fund public schools, rebuild our bridges and roads, and ensure that all Kansans have healthcare. She has helped make Kansas more affordable, too. Her efforts have lowered costs for Kansans by ending the food sales tax, removing the tax on Social Security, and implementing childcare tax credits.

Cindy’s Running Mate is current Kansas Representative KC Ohaebosim.
